Johnny Max Band on Myspace

“Sunday night Soul” is about the feeling that we (Baby Boomers, Flower Children, Children of Flower Children) had, growing up listening to “Wolfman” Jack, David Marsden or “The Coop”.  When Toronto had a “scene”.

We, who grew up with “Trudeaumania, the Kennedy’s, Peaceniks, Beatlemania and The ’72 Canada-Russia series, have been overlooked by radio.

With over 40 Blues and Roots Festivals in Ontario, we think that there is a need for our type of music, the music we had our first “anything”.

Your Host:

Johnny Max has been involved in the music industry for over 20 years, with stints as a Karaoke host, DJ and the last 12 years as lead singer for The Johnny Max Band. He also has some other projects, namely The Heart Attacks, The 7 piece R&B based Regal Blues Band and the 3 lead singer 70’s soul of The Soul Reason Revue. Johnny & his many bands have played all over the country at some of the finest Blues, Jazz & Roots Festivals.

Johnny & Sunday Night Soul also promote many shows in the Toronto / Port Credit area. From The Singer Songwriters Circle with dean McTaggart, Danny Brooks & Suzie Vinnick , The Annual Downchild Blues Year’s Eve and shows by The Bebop Cowboys, Club Django & Laura Hubert to name but a few.

Sunday Night Soul has now been on the air for over 6 years and is looking forward to another 6 years of “Playing The Music That Radio Forgot”

Along with his involvement in Hockey, Baseball and Soccer as volunteer and coach, along with his charitable contributions, he has not stopped for more than 30 years…and he is still doing it …at his age!!!

Johnny has been around.

Johnny has a sense of humour (sometimes only he can figure it out!) that has been shared by audiences around Toronto and Southern Ontario, wherever he is on the stage. He brings his knowledge and love of music, camaraderie, humour and presence to the airwaves every Sunday night.

Music  will be the focus of the shows, as it should be. I play some old “SOUL”, Al Green, Aretha, Ray, Otis and more. I also love promoting the amazing talent pool that this region has, Canadian Blues, Soul, Roots, whatever, I play the music that we love, that our listeners want and that Toronto is known for.
